RasaRia Ocean Wing Review

Ocean Wing

Ocean Wing

For our third registration anniversary,  Yuen and I decided to spend a night in the new luxury Ocean Wing, RasaRia Resort.  It costs us RM 1170 nett for one night.  Sounds a little hefty?  Well it is… because you are paying for a premium accomodation.  However, I can assure you that you will not be able to find another 5-Star Shangri-La’s suite in this price.  It is value for money.  The room is 968 square feet, that is like larger than my apartment!  It is impressively well equipped with your very own Nespresso machine.  A Nespresso machine!!  Of course, you have to pay additional for the capsules, RM 8 per cap,  which I thought wasn’t too bad.

Hello Nespresso!

Hello Nespresso!

For those that travel with their personal hairdryer will be pleasantly surprised by the powerful Vidal Sassoon  that they equipped your room with.  It dries your hair in a blink!  Needless to say, your room comes with a 36″ flat screen Sony television and DVD player.  Wireless internet access in the room and pool area.  IPOD stations are also available at the Guest Relations Desk.  You may think these are not sufficient enough to warrant a value-for-money title and… you are right.  I am just getting to the best part of the entire experience.  The highlight of the room is the balcony. They have turned half of the room into a balcony with a private 5′ by 4′ bath tub or more like a bath pool facing the west where the sun set.  Imagine…taking an aromatherapy bath in your very own private open pool while watching the sun set!  Amazing experience…

Being in the premium wing comes with other premium advantages such as, the Ocean Wing’s swimming pools are specifically for the Ocean Wing’s guests only and breakfast isat state of the art Coast Restaurant instead of the Coffee Terrace.  Rather than a complete buffet style breakfast, Coast Restaurant strive to maintain their luxury reputation by offering an alacarte breakfast menu for all hot items.  The cold items are served in a buffet style but the chef will prepare each and everyone’s cooked breakfast.  Guess what I had for breakfast, egg benedict!  Yum, yum!!  Pretty impressive breakfast menu too.

The interior design of the room is nothing spectacular, similar to any other Shangri-La’s resort.  What makes Ocean Wing worthwhile is the absolute privacy and relaxation indulgence they successfully introduced into your very own balcony.  You are able to enjoy the nature while taking a dip without having to leave the comfort of your room.  I think this is worth every cent of its rate.

We had an amazing little romantic getaway and we are definitely coming back.  These pictures may not demonstrate the full impact of the place, you need to be there to feel what we felt…
